Chung for SCC Robocalls

In may last post I noted that there were robocalls for State Central Committee candidates in the 3rd and 5th districts. I joked that:

If I run again for SCC in 2012, perhaps I will buy TV time ;-)

This afternoon I stopped by a Renee Schulte fundraiser between work and my kids' concert. I enjoyed some of Tim Palmer's awesome barbecue and got to see some old friends. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that someone had been doing robocalls in the 2nd District promoting my candidacy for SCC. I have not heard a recording nor seen a transcript but I am told the caller only promoted me.

I honestly have no idea who made the calls. Interestingly, Lisa Smith and I have always worked closely together and whoever did the call selected me and not her. I have been having trouble even speculating who might be behind this.

At the convention and when I wrote my blog post my friends just assumed that I was responsible for the call so no one mentioned it to me — I really had no idea.

Curiouser and curiouser ...

Then Mr. Chung, shouldn't be your responsibility to determine who is making these calls on your "behalf"?

Here's a suggestion: Why dont you ask Mr. Scheffler with ICA. We all know about the little "vote cards" that they pass out to delegates telling them the slate of candidates they want people to vote for.

Quite frankly, its disgusting to see an outside organization blatantly influencing what should be internal Republican Party decision making by district delegates.

Just like you condemned Kim Lehman for attempting to wear "two hats" in 2008...you should do the same with Mr. Scheffler.

Either he's going to serve his organization, ICA..or he's going to serve the Republican Party of Iowa. He can't have his cake and eat it too.

Mike,

I honestly don't know who did the calls. I have not asked Steve yet (since I found out about the calls last night) but I am pretty sure that it was not ICA.

There were "vote cards" passed out but my name was not on them. In fact the one I saw did not recommend anyone for SCC.

If ICA had been involved they most certainly would have made calls on behalf of Lisa Smith who serves on their board before calling for me.

Too bad no one took note of the phone number the calls came from

Mrs. Yoda got one on her cell phone but the number said unknown.

Whoever was doing it, they culled their list. I never received a call. I also heard from another who received the call. That person also said the source I D was blocked.
This has all the ear marks of direct dial from hell.
I would love to see one of those Borgia Pope, indulgence vote cards from 2010. Was it cut in the shape of a fish this year? Was there a disclaimer on the card identifying the source?
Please scan and post the 2010 how to vote to get out of hell free card for all to see.

Mr. Chung,

Lets be real here.. ICA has the resources available to spend money on having said robocalling done.

Robocalls were made in the other districts, so obviously, this was a coordinated effort to promoted ICA friendly slates in each district.

Look at the people promoted in each district--

3rd--Enos, Krishna, Pals
5th--Moran, Williams, Shaw
2nd--Chung

All ICA "friendly" people to serve Mr. Scheffler's agenda on the SCC.

Mr. Chung, people are tiring of outside organizations directly influencing our party's internal affairs. Its not the business of ICA to be telling how we should run our party.

As I stated earlier..you railed on Kim Lehman for "wearing two hats" in 2008. Its obvious that Steve Scheffler is doing the same now.

The question is, Mr. Chung, are you going to be consistent?

I found the 2nd District Convention a boon to the mission field. Many of the unenlightened were brought to know the truth about Iowa's Republican National Committeeman.
The Little Red Book of conflict of interest profiteering and sins against the party is now in even more hands.

Bill,
The FEC exonerated ICA of any wrongdoing. So keep accusing ICA of money laundering but the FEC say your wrong on those accounts. By the way the 4th District got even more conservative with Drew Ivers and AJ Spiker who are both on good terms with ICA.

When was the ICA exonerated by the F. E. C. ? Is there a link to the F. E. C. site, or a news story?

So Mr. Ryan..are you acknowledging that ICA now controls the Republican Party of Iowa?

Scheffler mentioned this to me on Friday that on Thursday they heard back and it they were cleared. I can trust Steve on that one I bet if you emailed him BIll he could tell you himself.
ICA doesn't control the party, they have sympathetic members on the board but if anything they broke even barley. If ICA controlled RPI then Scheffler would have more clout than what he has.

Mr. Ryan,

You must be straight out delusional if you think that ICA doesn't now have a firm control on the SCC.

Why else do you think ICA paid for robocalling promoting candidates for SCC. Why else do they pass out their little "slate cards" on convention?

Unfortunately, Matt Strawn instead of leading our party..is going to have to be watching his back.

I have not heard any final results of the investigation. Has the final report of the F. E. C. been posted anywhere?

Scheffler did not run any slates in the fourth district , no robo calls. If anything ICA just broke even in the party. There is no move to take out Matt Strawn. Scheffler and Kim both back him completely. Kim is loyal to Chairman Strawn as is Steve.
Bill,
Steve was talking to me on Friday gloating about it ( as he shoud be) that they were cleared, just email him to find out. I am sure he would tell you.

Chung,

You may want to ask your best friend Matt Strawn - - - he knows who did the robocolls to support his friends so that he can continue to be what he is.

Chung,

Mystery is solved. If you look in Branstad Campaign's expenses, you will find that they paid FLS Connect for automated calls on 04/29/10.
