Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize

It's not a joke, CNN is reporting that Present Obama has just been awarded the Nobel Peace prize. According to CNN, the committee said:

Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future, his diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population."

I don't even know how to respond. Generally, one has to actually accomplish something to win a Nobel prize — right? Maybe I missed it, is there Peace in the Middle East? Are India and Pakistan friends? Did Iran stop their nuclear program? Has he crime rate dropped in Chicago?

There is no question that every American president has a big impact on world events. Some even achieve greatness and much as I hate to admit it Obama might. But to say that on this, the 262nd day of the Obama presidency, that he has is ridiculous.

Update: My friend Tim Palmer, editor of HawkeyeReview.com points out that nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize closed on February 1, 2009. The nomination was made based on Obama's first 10 days in office!!!

The article also said the committee wanted to have an impact on politics. I've always considered them to be non-political, but I guess I was wrong.

What a wonderful surprise. Some are saying that he doesn't deserve this because he hasn't done anything yet, but I disagree. He has accomplished a great deal since he has been in office. The last administration dragged us and the world down to the lowest we've ever been and President Obama has brought us back. He has brought stability to the world and is working on making the the world nuclear free. He will be viewed in history as the greatest president of all time. I applaud him.

By who's standards has Obama accomplished ANYTHING he said he was going to do? You are disalusioned.

We are seeing how Chicago corrupt politics and socialist eurocrats are working against American interests overseas by awarding elitist awards to our peace monger in chief.
We can hardly wait for 2012 to put a pro American conservative in the White House and get the world to respect us again.

Obama who made history in winning the right to rule americans as their President, yet made another history by winning the Noble Peace Prize. Both events are not mere coincidences but deserving rewards from God.Obama saved America from economic disaster and also the world from nucleur demise.Obama succeeded in silencing the most dangerous countries like North Korea,Iran and Pakisthan who could trigger thier arsenal any moment once.Obama has intervened effectively to save peace in some of the middleeast and south american countries. With Obama, the world can breathe peace and live in confidence.Obamas award though looked premature but was justfied for his accomplishment and thirst for peace. With this award Obama will indeed rejoice but more, encouraged to intensify his mediatory efforts elsewhere where peace is unstable. The world recognition will enhance his motivation to work for world peace. Is he a God sent Messiah?.God bless America.

Obama and Nobel prize?
Nah. This is a joke from The Onion, isn't it? This guy is simply a talking head who is causing more enmity and hatred than any other American president has done.
Nobel committee has just announced they are no longer worthy to be considered as doing anything other than their masters command.
kumpta shankar, I hope and pray your eyes will be opened to the truth. Try reading more.
