Chet The Liar

Chet the LiarIn 1999, Robin Willians starred in the film, Jakob the Liar. In the film, Williams character, Jakob is in a Jewish ghetto in World War II. Jakob pretends to have a radio. Jakob lies to his fellow Jews about the proximity of the Russian Army, telling them only what they want to hear.

In January of 2008, Governor Culver said:

We’ll do whatever it takes to protect marriage between a man and a woman ...

Today (after waiting almost three days to make up his mind) Culver said:

The Court also concluded that the denial of this right constitutes discrimination. Therefore, after careful consideration and a thorough reading of the Court’s decision, I am reluctant to support amending the Iowa Constitution to add a provision that our Supreme Court has said is unlawful and discriminatory.

So, last year, Culver took a strong almost militant stance in favor of marriage. Today when the issue is no longer hypothetical he does just the opposite. In 2010, we Republicans have an opportunity to throw the liar out of office — game on!

A quote that I sent in a letter to the Governor. It pretty much sums it up.
".... Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit and intelligence of the citizens. They fall when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest and the profligates (utterly and shamelessly immoral) are rewarded because they flatter the people in order to betray them." George Washington
