Chuck Grassley has a Twitter & Matt Strawn is on YouTube
At this weekend's State Central Committee meeting, there was a great deal of talk about technology. Someone pointed out that even Senator Grassley has a Twitter. Someone else asked whether it could be cured.
In the spirit of using technology, Barstormer's principle owner, Matt Strawn has made a formal announcement of his candidacy for party chairman on YouTube.
Matt, knowing that Dave's a SCC member with a blog, you should have posted first with HawkeyeGOP! Sporer's been "dark" for over 30 days now so this should have been a simple feat to decide. Maybe Matt didn't want to look like he was pandering, but now that I think of it, isn't that how our chair is usually selected? I put up a way too long post (got krap for it)on Krusty's site and won't destroy your bandwidth by repeating it here. I really like that Matt was the first to use new technology, if we don't come up the learning curve fast on the high tech frontier, our party becomes an endangered species, along with Sporer's site!

Tom Latham and Steve King also have social networking sites - not just Grassley.

Don,
Noted! It just seems a bit more incongruous for Grassley. ;-)

I'm not sure why everyone is shocked that Grassley uses social networking. Grassley has always been ahead of the curve on political tactics. He was one of the first politicians to use fax machines in the 70s, one of the first to use college campus youth coordinators in the 80s, one of the first to utilize websites and email in the 90s and now we're surprised he’s on board with social networking in 2008? Come on! Grassley is an icon and he didn’t get that way by being slow to act and reluctant to utilize new technology.
We will likely lose the best US Senator our state has ever had to retirement in 2016. The next generation of leaders, can all learn a lot from Grassley’s example.

Wes, now hold on there - whoa. 8 years out and already predicting defeat?
what's that about.

Wait - Who's predicting defeat? I said he'll probably retire. The man will be 83 in 2016 ... Unlike Harkin, Grassley is still an Iowan and he spends a great deal of time traveling between Iowa and Washington DC. There comes a point when the strain of all that jet lag catches up with a man. Its not being negative, its just being realistic. I don’t think Grassley will lose so long as he runs for the seat.

sorry Wes, read too fast... thought you said something like ... would lose the senate seat due to Grassley's retirement in 2016 ...
badly misread, my bad. I thought I even read it a few times.
