Representative Renee Schulte
It's official! In HD 37 Renee Schulte had defeated the Democrat incumbent Art Staid. Schulte had a 14 vote lead after the canvass byt the county supervisors. After the recount was complete today that lead had been reduced to 13 votes.

This just goes to show we need contested races everywhere, because you never know.
It is important that we get more people to step up and challenge even the most entrenched candidates.
Regardless of Partisan jargon. Rep. Schulte's story is an amazing story of true grit, perservernce and of course the die hard effort of all who volunteered. Wonderful story.

Lets not get comfortable folks. IDP will be targeting Schulte's seat in 2010 for sure..
Now is the time to help her and other GOP office holders to prepare for what will be a knock down, drag out election

YEA! I have a republican state representative again!
And Versteegh is correct, expect Staed to run again or possibly for them to find a atrong candidate to challenge us.

The Dem's had 3 poll watchers at each of the 86 polling locations and lawyers at most. They ripped a page from our GOTV playbook and quite frankly; executed the play. We were pathetic here in Linn and had to beg for volunteers that Monday night (up til 10:00 p.m.) to get a warm body to poll-watch. I don't say this to slam our county though, that's a post for another day. This folks, is a huge credit to Renee Schulte. She worked her tail off this cycle and then, with huge personal obstacles thrown in front of her, (ID theft)(blue tsunamic) she prevails by 13 votes and ensures a recount fiasco. We need to find more Republicans cut from this fabric (character-work ethic-vision-perserverance) to support in our future elections....or we face a bleak future!
