It's official, Iverson's out in January
I just heard on WHO radio that state GOP Chairman Stewart Iverson will not seek re-election in January. That makes the race for the chairman wide-open. Stewart stepped in at a difficult time and presided over an even more difficult time. As a new SCC member, I didn't get to know Stewart that well. Over time, I have come to appreciate his optimism and sense of humor. I wish him good fortune in his future ventures.
The campaign for chair is already on. I am already getting calls. (Of course, Ted is campaigning on Deace rigth now.) What are your thoughts? Who should be our next chair be?
How about you David? I think that everyone respects you and you are a true promoter of the principles of the party. Do you think that you would be up to the task?

for starters, how about not Ted.

Al,
Thanks for your kind words. I am definitely NOT running for party chairman. I am still a new SCC member and as I learn the ropes, there is much work to do. I have neither the necessary connections nor experience. We need someone much more qualified.

David,
We have had Party insiders running the show for some time now. Look at where it has got us. We need new leadership. We need new blood. Someone from the inside is not the answer. It will only lead to more of the same. That is why I think that you would be a great choice.

David,
I've read my daily dose of Krusty this morning and he defines a short roster of "kandidates" for the spot. I regret to say I don't see any names that measure up to the task. I don't want overblown egos or agendas representing us. We need to quietly regroup, reorganize, plan our work, work our plan and return to the fundamentals of winning races at the local level. This isn't rocket science or secret formulas and I'M TIRED OF LOSING races we should be winning! For the record, you-David have the perfect temperment and intelligence to excel at this job but I probably agree that you needed another year or two to allow more people in other parts of the state to see the abilities we appreciate here in eastern Iowa. That said, please don't allow for our next chair to take an overblown ego, personal agenda and "revenge" driven mandate into the position. We need rock solid leadership, not another setback!
