Reed on Deace — Pt I

Christopher Reed is the Republican candidate for US Senate. In the interest of full disclosure, I am a Christopher Reed supporter. Reed and I agree on issues right down the line. Whether it be the right to life, gun rights, opposition to the bailout, etc. Reed and I are on the same page. Most readers also know that I am a member of the Republican State Central Committee.

Yesterday, Christopher Reed was on Steve Deace's show on WHO radio. Reed used his time to point out the lack of support that he is getting from RPI. I will have more on this in my next post.

This blog called out Clayton County Republican Chair, Gwen Eilers when she started her write-in campaign against Reed. Eilers sent an e-mail urging Republicans to write-in Steve Rathje for US Senate. Rathje of course was the third place finisher in the Republican Senate Primary.

Reed said that he went to RPI and was told that they would ask Eilers to stop. Reed seemed to imply that this indicated a lack of support on behalf of RPI. Unfortunately that's all they can do. When Reed said he went to RPI, I am guessing that he went to the staff. Neither RPI staff nor the SCC directs the activities of county chairs.

The only action that the state party could take, according to the RPI Constitution, would be for the 1st District Executive Committee (chairs and co-chairs) to recommend removing Eilers from office and then hold a hearing before the SCC to consider her removal. Of course, the Clayton County Central Committee could remove her if they so desire.

Reed (and Deace) raised more issues relating to RPI support for his candidacy. I will adress those in the my post.

I look forward to your take on Reed's accusations.
I would say that Hunter has a lot of explaining to do.
