Parade with M-cubed

Parade

Parade time. This weekend, my kids and I went up to walk in the Center Point Parade, sponsored by the Lions Club. We originally planned to walk with Linn County GOP Parade Master Steve West's fire truck. We stopped on the way and bought bags and bags of candy. These are my three youngest kids and a friend. Unfortunately the Lions said that they couldn't allow political signs in the parade. Some of our candidates had vehicles with signs and they ended up leaving. Too bad — parades and politics go together in Iowa.

Parade

The Miller-Meeks ambulance couldn't participate in the parade, since it is a big political sign. In the end we decided to exercise our First Amendment right to Free Speech and walk along the sidewalks distributing candy. We teamed up with 2nd Congressional District Candidate Marianette Miller Meeks (M-Cubed). This is a picture of Dr Miller Meeks and our crew of walkers. (M-Cubed is wearing a white polo shirt and khaki pants.) We walked along the parade route, distributing candy and passing out Miller-Meeks stickers all the way. Of course when we were done, my crew and I went to Dairy Queen.

I've enjoyed getting to know M-Cubed over the last few months. In the parade, she spent quite a bit of time walking with my 10 year old daughter. My daughter really enjoyed walking with the candidate and she is convinced that we will work hard to see her elected. We'll have to schedule a family vacation so that we can visit Congresswoman Miller-Meeks in Washington, DC.

Miller-Meeks rocks.

For her small stature, she will be a huge force in DC - because she WILL be elected.

thank you for this post (great pic by the way)

David and crew, thank you I say to you!
