Leon

I took this picture of RPI co-chair Leon Mosley at the RPI booth at the State Fair. I grew up in Cedar Falls, so I have of his work in the community since I was young. When I was at UNI, he provided the seed funding for a conservative newspaper called the UNI Sentinel. My friend Mark Cassill started the paper and I served as Associate Editor. Of course in recent years, Leon has served our party well as its highly visible and active co-chairman.
Since our State Convention, three counties in the Second Congressional District have passed a resolution about Leon. Leon is not a member of our delegation to the National Convention. Only the National Comittee People and the Party Chairman are automatic delegates. Leon did not run for delegate in the First District, nor was he selected by the Nominating Committee.
So far, Linn, Johnson and Jefferson counties have passed resolutions petitioning the State Central Committee to find some official role for Leon in our delegation to the National Convention. This is the resolution passed by the Johnson County Central Committee.
Resolution Petitioning the Iowa Republican Central Committee
We are deeply concerned that the Co-Chair of the Republican Party of Iowa, Leon Mosley, is currently not a part of our delegation to the National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota.
We believe that the support for Mr. Mosely is broad throughout the state, but is particularly deep amongst those who know the countless efforts he has extended for our party and his heroic efforts to make our communities better places to live and raise a family.
It is therefore our sincere belief that Mr. Mosely's contributions to our party and the communities of Eastern Iowa are so meaningful that it is incumbent upon us to respectfully petition the central committee to act promptly to correct this serious omission and find an official role for Mr. Mosely as a part of our delegation.
I was at the Johnson County meeting when they passed this resolution overwhelmingly. At this point, the resolution is an exercise in futility. There is no SCC meeting scheduled, between now and the National Convention. Even if there were, the official delegation has already been certified to the RNC.
